Mike Brown frustrated with Kings' "soft" defense on home court

78 games into season, Kings still searching on defensive end

Sacramento, we have a problem.

Hiding behind the best feel good story in the NBA is an issue that the Kings can’t seem to shake. They are horrible on the defensive end, but the issue is even worse on their homecourt.

If they needed a reminder of their most glaring issue, the San Antonio Spurs, a team in search of the top pick in the draft, not an early April victory, walked into Golden 1 Center and handed the Kings a 142-134 overtime loss.

Not only did the Kings yield 30 points in three of the four quarters, but they allowed a team that was resting most of their rotation, to score 19 points in the five minutes of extra time.

“I don’t know what our mindset was individually coming into the game, I imagine some of them thought that we were just going to be able to show up and beat these guys, the win was just going to happen,” a clearly frustrated Mike Brown said following the loss. “Maybe we need to get hit in the head a few times in order to respect the game, respect the process and understand that we have to bring it from the beginning of the game to the end.”
