Welcome in to your morning cup of Kings. We’ll keep it brief on a Sunday morning with the Kings falling to the Spurs in Austin, Texas. Sacramento fell behind 11-0 to start the game and it looked like it was over early, but they battled back to make it a game for about three quarters.

In the end, the team struggled against one of the better teams in the Western Conference for their 16th consecutive lost. Here is the latest Locked On Kings discussing the highs and lows of the game:

Six Quick Thoughts from Saturday’s loss

Old enough to drive. The Kings' franchise record losing streak hit 16 on Saturday afternoon when the team fell 139-122 to the Spurs in Austin. Here are six quick thoughts as the Kings battled early, but dropped to 12-46 on the season, including a 3-26 road record:

🏀 1. Building momentum. In his second game back from injury, Keegan Murray looked for his shot early and even got to the free throw line. Every game is an opportunity for Murray to show he can be a top option. Murray finished with 20 points, 2 rebounds and 2 blocks.

🏀 2. Savvy vet. DeMar DeRozan helped slow the game down and get the Kings back in it. The Kings need DeRozan to be the run stopper and he had some moments, finishing with 20 points on 5-for-13 from the field and 10-of-10 from the line.

🏀 3. Keep playing. Maxime Raynaud had his first couple of shots erased by his fellow Frenchman Victor Wembanyama. The Kings' rookie didn't stop fighting and ended up with a solid 16-point, 12-rebound, 2-assist, 1-block performance. He made adjustments.

🏀 4. The Flying Monk. Malik Monk came off the bench in the first quarter when things were looking grim. Monk instantly started cooking against his former teammate De'Aaron Fox on his way to 19 points and 6 assists.

🏀 5. Make them feel you. The goal was to be physical with the Spurs and Precious Achiuwa got the memo. He was tough in the post and did a nice job boxing out Wemby so others could rebound. Achiuwa finished with 14 points, 4 boards and 4 assists.

🏀 6. Let him run the team. Nique Clifford, not Devin Carter, played the backup point guard minutes in this game. He's still learning, but he needs the reps. Clifford scored 8 points and added 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. The time is now to give him a long look.
