Too many to blame for Kings' current three game losing streak

Four starters struggling in current slide

The Kings are no strangers to losing streaks. Dropping three games in a row, is in fact, a losing streak, although it feels much different than some of the team’s struggles from previous seasons.

Unlike the four game losing streak to start the 2022-23 season, this one is not about learning how to win. The Kings proved that they moved past that issue when they strung together seven straight victories just three games ago.

Sacramento is learning to be resilient in the face of adversity. They know that prolonged losing streaks will damage their hopes to break the franchise’s playoff drought, but they need to keep their spirits high through the ebbs and flows of the season.

“Don’t get down on yourself. Don’t look down. Don’t point the finger. Just come together, make us a little closer,” Malik Monk said. “I’m not going to let us separate. I take a big part in that.”

This current downturn in success has a new component. Individual players are struggling in specific areas of the game and it’s impacting the team’s ability to win. Pointing fingers might seem easy at first glance, but a deeper look into the Kings’ current situation goes well beyond any one player.

Rookie Keegan Murray has failed to score in double figures in eight of his previous 12 games. The team made a concerted effort to get him involved early and often in the 122-117 loss to the Suns on Monday night.
