It was never going to be a cake walk. If the Sacramento Kings are going to dethrone the NBA Champs, it will require a Herculean effort.

The Kings learned this lesson Thursday night at Chase Center. Despite Draymond Green missing the game due to suspension and Gary Payton II sitting with an illness, it was the Warriors who came out and punched first.

“I think they dictated the entire game tonight,” De’Aaron Fox said. “They came out, they hit us first and we really didn’t respond too well.”

In a wire-to-wire win, Golden State cut the Kings’ series lead to 2-1. This isn’t a time to panic for the upstart Kings, but the 114-97 loss was a reminder of how dangerous Stephen Curry and his Warriors squad can be when their backs are against the wall.

“I think they just came out with a greater sense of urgency than we had tonight,” veteran Harrison Barnes said. “They definitely got us out of what we normally do. In the first two games, I thought we had a greater sense [of urgency], they came out with desperation down 0-2.”
